Will this kill existing weeds?
Pre‑emergent stops new weeds from sprouting; it doesn’t kill existing weeds. We can add a post‑emergent spot treatment if needed.
Can this be combined with overseeding?
Pre‑emergent blocks all seeds—weed and grass. If you plan to overseed, we’ll time applications so the barrier doesn’t interfere with new grass.
What if it rains?
Light to moderate rain helps activate pre‑emergent. Heavy storms right after application can reduce effectiveness; we’ll advise if a follow‑up is needed.
How often is this needed?
Typically, 2 pre‑emergent windows per year in high‑pressure areas, with fertilizer tailored 3–5 times annually based on lawn type and goals.
Is dethatching the same as aeration?
No. Dethatching removes the surface thatch layer; aeration relieves soil compaction by pulling plugs.
Will this damage sprinklers?
We mark heads/valves before starting and avoid those zones; please point out any known shallow lines.
Is scalping safe for all lawns?
It’s mainly for warm-season grasses in early spring; not recommended for stressed or shade-heavy lawns.
How long after leveling until it’s smooth?
Many low areas improve immediately; full settling and knit-in typically 3–8 weeks during active growth.
Do the soil plugs need cleanup?
They break down naturally with rain/irrigation, returning nutrients to the soil. Removal is optional.
